Review Guidelines

Purpose

The peer review process is an essential part of JPIT’s commitment to ensuring the quality, accuracy, and scientific relevance of every article published. Reviewers play a vital role in assisting the editors in determining the suitability of a manuscript for publication and in providing constructive feedback to help authors improve their work.

Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are expected to assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope. Is the research topic aligned with the fields of planning, infrastructure, environmental engineering, or transportation?
  • Originality and scientific contribution. Does the study offer new findings, innovative approaches, or significant contributions to knowledge and practice?
  • Methodological quality. Are the research design, analytical techniques, and interpretation of results appropriate and clearly explained?
  • Coherence and clarity of writing. Is the manuscript well-organized, easy to understand, and compliant with JPIT’s author guidelines?
  • Accuracy of references. Are the references relevant, up to date, and supportive of the research arguments?
  • Publication suitability. Should the manuscript be published as is, revised, or rejected?

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript and avoid discussing it with others without the editor’s permission.
  • Provide objective and constructive feedback using respectful and professional language.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest, personal, professional, or financial, that could affect the fairness of the review.
  • Submit the review within the deadline set by the editor.
  • Offer specific suggestions for improving the content, structure, or methodology of the manuscript.

Review Recommendation

Reviewers are asked to provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revision
  • Accept with major revision
  • Reject

Each recommendation must be supported by clear comments and justifications for the decision.

Ethical Standards

JPIT upholds the highest standards of academic integrity. Reviewers must not use any information or data from the manuscripts under review for personal benefit or for their own research before the article is officially published.

JPIT adheres to the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity, transparency, and professionalism throughout the peer review process.
