Publication Ethics
The Journal of Social Inquiry and Perspectives (JSIP) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics throughout the entire publishing process. This ethics statement defines the responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. JSIP adheres to the general principles of scholarly publishing ethics and to guidelines issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting manuscripts to JSIP must ensure that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal. Authors are expected to present research data and findings honestly, accurately, and transparently, with proper citation of all sources used.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all individuals listed as co-authors have made a significant contribution to the research and manuscript preparation—any potential conflicts of interest, whether financial or non-financial, must be disclosed. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited.
Editor Responsibilities
JSIP editors are responsible for making editorial decisions based on the academic quality, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and scholarly contribution of a manuscript, without discrimination based on the personal background of the authors. Editors ensure that the peer review process is fair, objective, and confidential.
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and avoid any conflicts of interest during decision-making. If suspected ethical violations are identified, editors will take appropriate action in accordance with journal policy and accepted ethical principles.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers play a critical role in assisting editors in making informed editorial decisions through objective, constructive, and timely evaluations. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscripts they assess and must not use any information obtained during the review process for personal gain.
Reviewers are expected to identify relevant work that has not been cited and to report any suspected plagiarism, duplication, or other ethical concerns to the editor. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in cases of conflict of interest.
Peer Review Process
JSIP implements a peer review process to ensure the scholarly quality and integrity of published articles. Each manuscript undergoes initial screening by the editorial team and is subsequently evaluated by reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
Handling Alleged Ethical Violations
In cases of suspected publication ethics violations—such as plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, or undisclosed conflicts of interest—JSIP will conduct a fair and transparent investigation. Based on the findings, the journal may take necessary actions, including rejection of the manuscript, publication of corrections, article retraction, or notification to relevant parties.
Post-Publication Corrections
JSIP allows post-publication corrections for minor technical errors, such as typographical mistakes, formatting issues, or metadata inaccuracies, provided that they do not affect the scholarly content of the article. Substantive errors are handled through mechanisms such as erratum, corrigendum, or retraction, depending on the severity of the issue.
Language and Academic Integrity
JSIP accepts manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Regardless of the language, all articles must meet the same standards of academic integrity and adhere to the journal’s publication ethics policies.
Journal Commitment
By submitting and publishing articles in JSIP, all parties are considered to have read, understood, and agreed to abide by this publication ethics policy. JSIP is committed to continuously improving editorial governance and maintaining the trust of the national and international scholarly community.
