Review Guidelines

Purpose of Review

The peer review process aims to ensure the quality, relevance, and scientific integrity of all manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Social Inquiry and Perspectives (JSIP). Reviewers play a vital role in assisting editors in evaluating the suitability of manuscripts for publication and in providing constructive feedback to help authors improve the scholarly quality of their work.

Reviewer Responsibilities

  1. Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, professionally, and based on academic judgment without personal bias.
  2. Confidentiality: All manuscripts and materials received for review must be treated as confidential and should not be shared or used for personal advantage.
  3. Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must avoid any conflict of interest arising from personal, professional, or financial relationships with the author(s) or affiliated institutions.
  4. Timeliness: Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews within the designated timeframe. If unable to do so, they should promptly notify the editor.
  5. Constructive Feedback: Comments should be clear, well-reasoned, and constructive, providing useful guidance for authors to improve their manuscripts without personal criticism.

Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  1. Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope
  2. Originality and scholarly contribution
  3. Clarity of objectives and problem formulation
  4. Appropriateness of research methodology and data analysis
  5. Relevance and adequacy of the reviewed literature
  6. Clarity of results and discussion
  7. Significance of conclusions
  8. Quality of language and academic writing style
  9. Compliance with publication ethics and journal guidelines

Final Recommendation

After completing the review, reviewers are asked to provide one of the following recommendations to the editor:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revision
  • Accept with major revision
  • Reject

Review Ethics

JSIP upholds academic integrity and the highest ethical standards throughout the peer review process. Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review. They must not use any information, data, or ideas contained in the manuscript for personal benefit, independent research, or professional advantage before official publication.

JSIP adheres to the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity, transparency, and professionalism in all aspects of the peer review process.
